Duties

Contribute to research, service, teaching and teaching-related activities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The appointees are also expected to be active researchers and contribute to the broader intellectual project of the Department in terms of publications, academic events and research grants.

Requirements

A PhD in Political Philosophy/Ethics or related disciplines with competence in undertaking philosophical and ethical research and teaching.  Candidates are expected to have an active research agenda that leads to external funding, provide evidence of teaching ability (including student evaluations) and proven ability to produce high-quality publications.  We are particularly interested in candidates who are familiar with East Asian philosophical traditions and are capable of conducting research and teaching in a field of applied ethics, such as biomedical ethics, digital ethics/AI ethics, environmental ethics, government ethics and/or administrative ethics.  Successful candidates are expected to commence duty as soon as possible.

A PhD in Political Science/Public Administration/Development Studies or related disciplines with competence in teaching and undertaking research in political  economy, sustainable development and regional governance. Candidates with specializations in international organization, AI governance and research methodology are particularly welcome to apply.  Area focus on the Greater Bay Area, Asia-Pacific Region or Middle East and North Africa would be an advantage.  Candidates are expected to have an active research agenda that leads to external funding, evidence of teaching ability (including student evaluations), and proven ability to produce high-quality publications. Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Public and International Affairs (Appointment for 12 months) [Ref. T/202/25]

Duties

  1. Provide teaching support for course teachers;
  2. Support course administration and development of teaching materials;
  3. Grade student assignments;
  4. Assist in programme administration including admissions;
  5. Handle teaching-related administrative duties as assigned by course leaders;
  6. Organise co-curricular activities such as company visits and alumni networking activities;
  7. Assist in coordinating departmental seminars and conferences; and
  8. Perform any other duties as assigned.

The appointee may be required to work beyond normal office hours occasionally.

Requirements

A Master’s degree in Comparative Politics/International Relations/Public Administration. Good command of written and spoken English, familiarity with teaching, ability to work independently, willingness to help, and active learning attitude are required. Teaching background and experience in conducting research are preferred.

Teaching Consultant in the Department of Public and International Affairs [Ref. T/021/26]

Duties

Contribute to teaching and teaching-related activities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, specifically in sustainability developments from the perspectives of Development Study, Public Policy, International Political Economy and/or Anthropology; supervise capstone projects; and participate actively in research and contribute to the broader intellectual project of the Department in terms of publications, seminars, workshops and research proposals.

Requirements

A PhD degree in Development Studies/Public Policy/International Political Economy/Anthropology or closely related fields, specialising in one or more sub-fields (such as Critical Studies of Development, Sustainability and Development Policy, Global and Regional Politics of Sustainability Development, and Anthropology of Sustainable Development), with a proven ability to teach courses in development theories, public policy, political economy and/or anthropology, as well as supervising capstone projects and conducting policy-related research. A relevant Master’s degree plus relevant professional experience and teaching experience at the university level in related areas, will also be considered.
