The Reliability Engineer is a key role in ensuring asset performance and maintenance excellence within the BCOS (Barry Callebaut Operating System). This role focuses on maximizing the reliability and lifecycle of equipment and assets at the plant. The Reliability Engineer will collaborate with global and local teams to improve maintenance effectiveness, implement best practices, and ensure cost optimization while aligning with the company’s overall technical and asset management strategy.This position involves a strong partnership with operational leads, planners and maintenance coordinators to ensure proper execution of maintenance programs while maintaining master data and providing direct support to production operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain strategies for improving asset reliability and maintenance effectiveness in alignment with global standards, RCM principles, and TPM initiatives.
  • Analyze equipment performance data from CMMS and MES, including critical metrics such as failure rate and OEE, to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) strategies to prioritize maintenance activities based on criticality, failure modes, and the impact on overall system performance, ensuring a focus on asset reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance tools and techniques, such as vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis, to proactively address potential equipment failures.
  • Leverage inputs from cell technical leads, local historical data, and comparison points at the other factories to optimize maintenance costs and reliability.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying root causes of equipment failures, conducting root cause analysis (RCA), and implementing corrective actions to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Establish maintenance best practices, leveraging internal and industry benchmarks to enhance performance.
  • Collaborate with the local and global technical teams to ensure consistency in asset management practices across all plant locations, while aligning with Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB) to ensure maintenance costs are justified and optimized based on current needs rather than historical expenditures.
  • Develop and update job plans and preventive maintenance schedules in partnership with planners.
  • Maintain spare parts in asset BOM and storage strategies in partnership with storekeepers and GBS (Global Business Services) based MRO & reliability analysts
  • Assess the risk of obsolescence of the equipment and parts
  • Support and maintain accurate master data related to equipment and maintenance records.
  • Use maintenance data and metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement in reliability and maintenance processes.
  • In smaller organizations, take on the role of planner, managing job planning.

 

About You: 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in reliability engineering, maintenance, or asset management in a manufacturing environment (preferably in food manufacturing).
  • Strong understanding of TPM, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Experience working with global asset management programs and maintenance planning tools.
  • Proficient in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), preferably IBM Maximo
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams, including production and global teams.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to assess data and implement effective solutions to improve reliability.
  • Fluent in the local language and in English; additional language skills are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel between plant locations as needed (max 10%).
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with a focus on fostering teamwork and developing technical teams.

Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Under the supervision of the Monitoring and evaluation Manager, the Monitoring and evaluation Officer is responsible for the operational implementation of the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) system.This role is key to ensuring the reliability, quality, and relevance of MEL data through logistical and technical support, enabling the MEL Manager to produce accurate analyses, optimize sustainability programs, and foster continuous learning within the Sustainability Department.The Monitoring and evaluation officer make sure consultants are fully trained and equipped to use data collection tools effectively and check that cooperative data meets quality standards.

 

 

Key responsabilities include :

The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Contribute to implementing global M&E strategic directions.
  • Apply existing SOPs and protocols specific to M&E activities and support their improvement by sharing field feedback.
  • Create and Manage Knowledge Repositories
  • Coordinate learning and Impact Studies
  • Support the translation of programs into detailed operational plans, with clear objectives, milestones, and timelines.
  • Implement the action plan and execute the activities on time and in line with objectives.
  • Ensure the maintenance, regular updates, and smooth functioning of digital equipment used by field consultants.
  • Guarantee the proper functioning of data collection tools by handling updates, troubleshooting technical issues, and documenting support procedures.
  • Guide and support field consultants in conducting in-depth surveys with farmers, while ensuring they have strong command of the tools and protocols.
  • Design data collection plans aligned with evaluation objectives and ensure their smooth operational rollout.
  • Apply appropriate statistical techniques at both cooperative and farmers levels to ensure the representativeness of collected data.
  • Collect comprehensive data on agricultural practices, inputs, and yields using digital tools to support impact assessments.
  • Support the definition of quality protocols, carry out field checks, identify inconsistencies, and recommend targeted corrective actions.
  • Contribute to building and enriching the internal knowledge base with insights and case studies to foster ongoing learning and continuous improvement.
  • Help draft impact assessment reports, contribute to technical reports for stakeholders, and take an active part in follow-up meetings.
  • Inspire and coach teams by promoting a high-performance and engaged culture.
  • Perform field visits to ensure initiatives are effectively implemented.
  • Allocate objectives based on the work plan and monitor performance.

About you 

  • Master’s degree in agronomy, natural resource management, economics, project management, business administration, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in managing sustainability projects and programs, primarily in the agricultural sector—ideally in cocoa—with a strong background in rural settings and multicultural environments, and a significant field presence.
  • Proven track record in leadership roles, including strategic and operational oversight, supervision of multidisciplinary and multi-site teams, and management of partnerships with farmers, clients, and institutions.

Manufacturing Excellence Manager

About the Role:

Drives our change agenda, leading to full implementation of BCOS at site level in-line with the regional/site Master Plan.

The role focuses on the development of site BCOS work processes capabilities to deliver BIC results in line with BC ‘Go for ZERO’ vision. The Site Mfg. Ex. Mgr. will guide and support site leaders, middle management, and core teams to implement all pillars work process to deliver expected site goals and results.

The implementation of the BCOS program includes the following activities:

  • In combination with site leadership team create a Zero loss culture enhancing people’s capability towards loss eradication
  • Bring visibility of site losses (via Loss tree) and deploy pillar capabilities tackling/prioritizing major losses.
  • Working regularly with regional coaches, make sure pillar leads execute agreed actions between visits (provide necessary coaching and support)
  • Work closely connected with Regional Manuf. Excel. Director in order to guarantee total alignment with Regional and Global performance targets and global standard work process recommendations.
  • Guarantee site Productivity agenda, and leverage any internal/external resources to help on target delivery as necessary.
  • Support adoption of digital solutions at site level, making sure the new technology and ways of working are incorporated into site routine.
  • Coordinate the KPIs performance review at site level, looking for capabilities requirements and addressing gaps necessary to deliver site targets!

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the revision, implementation and coaching to deploy pillar work processes.
  • Lead site process of target setting and deployment (hoshin planning)
  • Guarantee all KPIs are reported in the system and on time.
  • Generate intelligence to support actions that continuously improve site performance across the balanced score card
  • Guarantee RCA activities involving plant leads and designated area members for all KPIs to drive to target.
  • Coordinate daily routine activities (team board meetings hourly, daily etc.) and operational review meetings in a monthly basis.
  • Make visible to the entire supply chain the losses opportunities creating a map of losses and site productivity pipeline
  • Be the representative of the sites’ program implementation for the local management team and broader BC organization.
  • Play a leading role on developing and deploying/adoption of MES and other site digital initiatives in line with I4.0 strategy.
  • Deploy regular self-assessment using the BCOS Health check tools – and build action plan to close gaps versus site Master Plan
  • Promote internal and external benchmark exercises, looking for opportunities to improve local site performance.

About You: 

  • Bachelor / Master degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Food)
  • Advanced level of English language proficiency
  • Experience in implement Continuous Improvement process, such as: TPM (will be considered as differential),  Lean Supply Chain principles and tools and/or Six Sigma
  • Experience in working and leading initiatives in multicultural environment
  • Previous experience of cultural change management processes is preferred.
  • Places as highest priority the Safety of people, process, and product.
  • Project/Engineering Manager, Production Manager and proven track records on application continuous improvement
  • Leading roles on SC functions (DSP, manufacturing, procurement, CI, quality, etc.)
  • Has led and/or participated in cultural change journeys.
  • Extensive software capability including Google Environment, Excel, Word, Minitab (or other statistical software) and MS Project. Knowledge and experience on use of SAP ERP systems is seen as a desirable skill.
  • Exceptional coaching, communication, interpersonal & leadership skills
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience practitioner of TPM and Lean Principles as part of continuous Improvement methodology (Six Sigma not essential but seen as a plus)
