Project

Background:
This position is part of a multidisciplinary project including a large- scale cluster randomised controlled trial (cRCT) in Cameroon
evaluating the impact of spatial repellents (SR) on malaria transmission and insecticide resistance in comparison to dual- active ingredient long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs).

The project is funded by Unitaid and integrates a multidisciplinary approach involving epidemiology, entomology, modelling, social science, and cost-effectiveness analysis.

The trial is implemented in collaboration with the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) and international partners including the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).

Effective and timely procurement of project materials and services is essential for successful execution of all components.

Job Purpose
The Procurement Officer will oversee the procurement of goods and services from both international and local markets. The officer will ensure that all procurement processes are transparent, cost-effective, timely, and in full compliance with CRID’s procurement policy, Unitaid Guidelines, Model Quality Assurance System (MQAS), and international standards. The role is central to supporting field activities and ensuring the uninterrupted supply of critical research materials and services.

-Develop and implement international sourcing strategies for equipment, diagnostics, and pharmaceutical supplies.
-Identify and maintain a pool of reliable and prequalified international suppliers.
-Ensure supplier compliance with WHO Good Storage Practices (GSP) and Good
-Distribution Practices (GDP).
-Lead transparent international tendering and competitive bidding processes.
-Negotiate contracts, Incoterms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
-Raise and manage purchase orders; actively track shipments.
-Coordinate inventory replenishment to avoid stockouts.
-Work closely with logistics and customs agents for clearance and import compliance.
-Maintain audit-ready procurement documentation, contracts, and performance records.
-Provide regular updates on procurement activities, supplier performance, and risks.
-Ensure adherence to Unitaid procurement standards and national import regulations.
-Liaise with freight forwarders, insurers, and quality assurance providers.
-Support field-level distribution of supplies according to study design and needs.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
Essential
– Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration or related field (Master’s preferred).
– Minimum 5 years’ experience in international procurement within NGOs or donor- funded projects.
– Experience in multi-site procurement for field trials or research studies.
– Sound knowledge of international shipping, Incoterms, and customs clearance in Cameroon.
– Familiarity with MQAS and WHO pharmaceutical procurement guidelines.
– Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
– Excellent written and verbal communication in English (French is an asset).
– Proficiency in MS Office and procurement management software/tools.

– Experience working with Unitaid-funded projects or similar global health donors.
– Experience handling tax-exempt procurement and clearance procedures in Cameroon.

Job Purpose
The Project Coordinator will support the Senior Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and implementing project activities.
The role ensures smooth and timely execution of operational, administrative, and technical processes across project sites and teams.

The Project Coordinator will act as a liaison among field teams, partners, stakeholders, and management to ensure that project objectives are met in line with donor and institutional requirements.

Support communication and collaboration between HQ, field teams, and external partners.
Organize and document team meetings, workshops, and trainings.
Assist in the development and monitoring of project work plans, timelines, and deliverables.
Mobilize logistics and resources for smooth field operations and training events.
Track milestones and prepare progress updates and internal reports.
Draft and compile communication materials such as briefing notes and presentations.
Support the documentation of lessons learned and best practices.
Assist in preparing budget forecasts and monitor project expenditures.
Ensure compliance with administrative, procurement, and financial procedures.
Maintain accurate project documentation and correspondence.
Liaise with consultants, contractors, and service providers as needed.

Research Uptake and Advocacy OFFICER

Role Summary
This position is part of a multidisciplinary project including a large-scale cluster randomised controlled trial (cRCT) in Cameroon assessing the impact of spatial repellents (SR) on malaria transmission and insecticide resistance profiles in comparison to dual-active ingredient long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs).The Research Uptake and Advocacy Officer will be responsible for ensuring that findings from the CANVeCT project are effectively communicated, disseminated, and translated into policy and practice. This role bridges research, policy, and community engagement, ensuring evidence generated by the trial influences malaria control strategies in Cameroon, sub-Saharan Africa, and at global health forums (e.g., WHO Vector Control Advisory Group).  The officer will also lead advocacy efforts with government bodies, NGOs, partners, and communities to promote uptake of evidence-based malaria control tools, while addressing barriers to implementation, access, and sustained use.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Essential

-Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Political Science, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
-At least 5 years’ experience in research uptake, policy engagement, and/or advocacy within public health, preferably in malaria or infectious diseases
-Proven track record in policy influence, advocacy campaigns, and evidence translation.
-Strong understanding of malaria control and vector management strategies.
-Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills in French and English.
-Experience engaging with Ministries of Health, NGOs, donors, and global health actors is an advantage

Desirable
-Experience with WHO, Global Fund, Unitaid, FCDO, Wellcome Trust, or similar donor-funded projects.
-Familiarity with clinical trial communication and dissemination.

Project
Background:
Integrated Multi-vector-borne Diseases Platform to Assess Global Change Impacts on Transmission Using Innovative Systems Modeling, Novel Monitoring Tools, and Transmission- blocking Microorganisms (IMPACTING). IMPACTING is an EU- funded, multi-country program led by icipe (Nairobi, Kenya) with partners across East, Central, and Southern Africa and Europe (France, Portugal). It integrates innovative vector monitoring, disease modeling, diagnostics, and policy tools to address malaria, dengue, human African trypanosomiasis, onchocerciasis, and Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever transmitted by Aedes and Anopheles mosquitoes, Glossina tsetse flies, Simulium blackflies, and Hyalomma and Rhipicephalus ticks.

Job Purpose
-The PhD fellow will lead the social science component under Objective 4 of IMPACTING, focusing on participatory, community-driven approaches to vector-borne disease (VBD) surveillance and control. The fellow will co-develop locally tailored solutions with affected populations and collaborate with entomology, epidemiology, modeling, and policy teams to inform evidence- based interventions and policy.
-Develop qualitative data collection instruments (FGD/KII guides, participatory tools) and oversee field implementation, including community entry and feedback mechanisms.
-Conduct and supervise data collection, transcription, translation, coding, and analysis of qualitative data (FGDs, KIIs, community workshops); support quantitative data collection where relevant.
-Co-create community-based strategies for deploying and scaling VBD surveillance and control tools; pilot digital communication strategies (e.g., SMS platforms) to enhance engagement.
-Conduct gender- and age-disaggregated analyses to identify social, economic, and policy barriers to VBD control; document lessons for scale-up.
-Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams (entomology, epidemiology, modelling, policy) to integrate social science evidence into intervention design, dashboards, and decision tools.
-Prepare timely technical reports and presentations for PIs, project scientific and management teams; contribute to dissemination and policy engagement workshops.
-Contribute to manuscript preparation for peer-reviewed publications and to grant writing.
-Support capacity building of field teams and junior researchers in qualitative and participatory methods.
-Support implementation of other CRID research activities as necessary.

– Strong experience in qualitative research (FGDs, KIIs, participatory approaches).
