Job description:

We are seeking a highly diligent, confident candidate for the role of Translator intern. The Translator intern will be responsible for the accurate translation of documents and emails and attending meetings in which live translations/interpretations are needed. The position comes with great responsibility, as the translator intern will translate all documents, letters and articles from English to French and vice versa.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate translations of all texts.
  • Proofread, edit, and revise translated materials.
  • Liaise with colleagues and subject matter experts to understand specialized concepts and translate them appropriately while ensuring that translations are true to the original meaning.
  • Able to use online translation tools for additional assistance with translation
  • Attend meetings to translate discussions.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Must have a degree in Translation from a recognized institution of higher learning;
  • The ability to grasp new concepts quickly, e.g. technical terms;
  • A clear writing style with an impeccable knowledge of spelling and grammar;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Fluency in both English and French;

Objective

The communications department is hiring a communications intern to support the building of the Foundation’s brand.

Core activities  

  • Assisting in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the annual communications strategy and communications plan. 
  • Maintaining and updating the foundation social media pages. 
  • Assisting in creating graphics and other accessories for social media promotion. 
  • Updating the database of media and other contacts to ensure they are accurate, and up to date. 
  • Assisting with the production and publication of videos. 
  • Contributing ideas to develop new channels for the Foundation’s communications.

  • Support the processing of payment vouchers and perform Journal entries;
  • Support the compilation of monthly budgets and preparation of budgetary executions;
  • Support CNPS & Tax declaration and payment;
  • Support the filing of vouchers;
  • Support the facilitating of field payments as assigned.
  • Support the maintenance of office supplies and equipment;

Internship at the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Center

The Small Business and Entrepreneurship Centre (SBEC) is focused on providing the tools for establishing and expanding businesses in the private sector to spur economic growth.

Objective

The SBEC department is currently in search of 01 (one) intern. The SBEC Intern is responsible for providing support to the SBEC team regarding all activities and services deemed necessary to advance the mission of the department. He/She is required to bring fresh ideas to the table when it comes to engaging more entrepreneurs through the SBEC network. This will have a strong focus on empowering women in the private sector to establish and grow small and medium-sized enterprises.

Core duties

  • Creating opportunities for mutual learning among small business owners through the organization of workshops/seminars;
  • Establishing an extensive network of professional services to cater to the many needs of small businesses in the country;
  • Developing a strategy to effectively register SMEs to the SBEC Network;
  • Designing and implementing an essential skills program for all members of the SBEC Network;
  • Conceiving concept notes and programs for all events;
  • Preparing draft reports for all events
  • Mobilizing participants during events;
  • Delivering letters of correspondence during the preparation of events;
  • Updating the database of participants after every SBEC event to increase the audience of constant contacts;
  • Taking notes and producing reports during events;
  • Participating in community-engaging events;

The Economic Policy Division explores how free-market systems can help address a range of economic issues in Africa and Cameroon especially. Objectives 

The Nkafu Policy Institute is currently in search of highly motivated persons to join the Nkafu team as interns to promote and advance our work. We target outstanding recent graduates who are interested in gaining practical experience in research, policy analysis, event planning, and project management.

Core duties  

  • Assist with a broad range of activities that support policy advancement at a regional or national level such as organizing and reporting on research, seminars, conferences, and workshops.
  • Assist Research Fellows and Institute staff with projects, program-related research, and development, including participation in the planning and coordination of activities/events.
  • Complete research tasks as assigned, such as conducting literature reviews; and finding, organizing, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data.
